Noemi Bender values and is enthusiastic about the collaborative and connective process of making music. In her performances, she aims to evoke an emotional response in her audience and her collaborators.
Noemi studies under Dr. Richard Faria at Ithaca College where she will be entering her fourth year as a clarinet performance major.
Noemi serves as the principal clarinet of the Ithaca College Symphony Orchestra, and previously served as the principal clarinet and section manager of the premier Ithaca College Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Daniel Cook. With orchestral performance being one of her musical interests, she will be attending Mostly Modern Festival in summer 2024 to continue her orchestral education.
Noemi enjoys collaborating with her peers at school through chamber music and new music. In April 2023, she premiered Ethan Pinckert’s Thought Pattern for two clarinets at Ithaca College. Noemi is an active member of the Ithaca College Contemporary Chamber Ensemble under the direction of Chris Coletti.
Beyond her on-campus performances, Noemi finds joy in community outreach. In this sentiment, she actively participates in student-led chamber music concerts at local retirement community centers.
In previous summers, Noemi has attended the Kutztown Summer Music Festival and the Apple Hill Summer Music Chamber Workshop. At these institutions, Noemi explored a variety of musical styles and genres. This past spring, Noemi had the honor of being invited to Cornell University to perform selections from Mozart’s Serenades for Winds in a demonstration led by Dr. Neal Zaslaw. Noemi was recently selected as a finalist of the Ithaca College Concerto Competition, where she performed the Francaix Clarinet Concerto.
Noemi has received master classes from clarinetists Pavel Vinnitsky, Yoonah Kim, Ayako Oshima, and Charles Neidich where she has been praised for her musicality and facility.
