My name is Sarah McFarland, and I have been involved with music for 27 years! I first started in piano at age 6 and went on to get my degree in Music with an emphasis in Piano Performance. I have performed as an accompanist, soloist, and as part of collaborative piano and ensemble groups since 2004. I have conducted and served as first chair piano in pit orchestras, accompanied vocalists and choral groups, and conducted choirs at CMEA rating festivals in addition to this.
My teaching journey first began after college in 2013. I worked as a vocal coach and accompanist at a local high school and then moved overseas to work with African diaspora refugees. I had the opportunity to teach African students in general music and choir, and Voice of America featured our classes on an international broadcast profiling the school! When I returned to the US, I opened Calliope Music Studios to help serve students of different ages, abilities, backgrounds, and beliefs to learn more about music and excellence through the arts.
Today, I am the Team Lead at Calliope Music Studios/The Well Music and Arts Foundation and am a piano teacher, teacher trainer, and music director! The goal of the studio is to equip students with artistic excellence and pour into the next generation of young musicians. We have private and group lesson programs and serve our community by offering subsidized programming. We are a muti-generational group of musicians and artistic advocates who are passionate about educating the next generation of creatives. I also play piano professionally as a soloist and work as an accompanist with our local high school.
