Noah Sapp is an electric and double bass player, who embraces and performs all styles of music. When he first picked up an electric bass at the age of 10, Noah knew he wanted to make as much music as he could. He quickly developed a dexterity with both the electric and double bass, which allowed him to explore and perform in a plethora of musical genres. He participated in his schools’ orchestras and jazz bands, and received a Woody Herman Jazz Award before graduating from middle school. Over this period of time, he found immense musical inspiration from attending Victor Wooten’s music and nature summer camps, where he learned about the intrinsic bond that music shares with the principles of nature and language. These summers had a profound impact on Noah and further encouraged him to pursue music as a profession.

Noah began studying the bass with Anthony Pirog, and later received brief mentorship under Adam Celli and Ali Cook. Before graduating high school, Noah had taken to the stage with names such as Junior Marvin, Victor Wooten, Bob Franceschini, Mike Stern, James Genus, J.D. Blair, Rick Seracino, Mark Deffenbaugh, Hanoi Ragmen, and Quintango. He has also performed in numerous musical workshops and programs, including the American Youth Philharmonic, the New York String Orchestra Seminar, the National Jazz Workshop, the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association, the NSO Summer Music Institute, and DCBass.

Noah is soon to be in his fourth year at the Peabody Conservatory where he studies with Ira Gold. He can be seen performing with the Trifilio Tango Trio, and in mixed jazz ensembles across the DMV. Noah believes the purpose of his art is to evoke profoundly meaningful experiences which aren’t meant to be explained, but felt and internalized. He hopes that his art has the ability to leave a beautiful impression on anyone who wishes to experience it.
