Biography

Mezzo-soprano Stephanie Feigenbaum has been hailed as “a thrill to watch” by OperaWire and praised for her "credible and nuanced" performances by Opera News. She appeared last season as Una novizia in Suor Angelica with Heartland Opera Theatre and in concerts with various New York City ensembles, featuring the U.S. Premiere of Trilogia Textil by Gabriel Senanes. Performances as Mercédès in Carmen with Utopia Opera, Voice 6 in the World Premiere of Self-Defined Circuits with Fresh Squeezed Opera, and Alto Soloist in Bach's B Minor Mass with the Westchester Oratorio Society have been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Stephanie's repertoire spans the entirety of the operatic canon, from Baroque operas to new music. In the 2018-2019 season, she played Melissa in Caccini's La liberazione di Ruggiero, one of the oldest surviving operas, with dell’arte Opera Ensemble, and covered Nerone in Poppea with Bare Opera. That same season she sang Nancy in Albert Herring with Utopia Opera and created the role of Amaranta in Fortunato with Fresh Squeezed Opera. A champion of modern English-language opera, Stephanie brought her trademark musicality and verve to the Premiere of Happy Birthday, Wanda June (Wanda June, Indianapolis Opera). She has also appeared in the American Premieres of Seven Angels (Angel 2/Queen cover, Aspen Opera Theatre) and Mansfield Park (Julia Bertram, Indianapolis Opera).

Stephanie is a graduate of Northwestern University and has been a Young Artist at Chautauqua Opera, Indianapolis Opera, Opera Southwest, and Opera Saratoga.
Feigenbaum’s Melissa was a thrill to watch as she strode confidently about the stage, resolute in her mission, stealthy in her plans and brave in action against Alcina. Feigenbaum’s performance was strong, reflecting the heroic nature of her character.
