Erica Petrocelli
(She/Her) American soprano Erica Petrocelli is a current member of the International Opera Studio at Opernhaus Zürich. She made her European debut this 20/21 season with Opernhaus Zürich as Giannetta in L'elisir d'amore. As a young artist with Los Angeles Opera in 2018-2020, Erica sang several role debuts, including Musetta in La bohème under Mo. James Conlon, Eurydice in the world premiere of Matthew Aucoin's Eurydice, and Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte.

Biography

Erica Petrocelli

American soprano Erica Petrocelli is a current member of the International Opera Studio at Opernhaus Zürich. She made her European debut this 20/21 season with Opernhaus Zürich as Giannetta in L'elisir d'amore. As a young artist with Los Angeles Opera in 2018-2020, Erica sang several role debuts, including Musetta in La bohème under Mo. James Conlon, Eurydice in the world premiere of Matthew Aucoin's Eurydice, and Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte. She was scheduled to make her principal debut at Opera Theatre of St. Louis, singing Micaëla in Carmen.* In the 18/19 season, Ms. Petrocelli made her Los Angeles Opera debut singing the role of Mrs. Naidoo in Philip Glass’ Satyagraha, conducted by Grant Gershon. Erica Petrocelli’s previous engagements include Tchaikovsky’s Anges Sorel in The Maid of Orleans, Honegger’s oratorio Jeanne d’arc au bûcher, in which she sang the role of the Holy Virgin, and the First Maiden in Zemlinsky’s Der Zwerg, all at Jordan Hall with Odyssey Opera of Boston. As a student at New England Conservatory, she performed Lia in Debussy’s L’enfant prodigue, Salud in La vida breve, as well as the title role in Massenet’s Cendrillon. A 2018 Metropolitan Opera National Council semi-finalist, Ms. Petrocelli is also the recipient of a Sullivan Foundation award and has completed Opera Theatre of St. Louis’ Gerdine Young Artist program, where she covered Fräulein Brüstner/Leni in Glass’ The Trial, as well as the Apprentice Program with the Santa Fe Opera. *canceled due to COVID-19
