Errik Hood

With excellent musicianship and magnetic stage presence, Errik is equally comfortable in Opera, Operetta, Musical Theatre, Oratorio, and Art Song. He employs dramatically and musically sensitive interpretation of music ranging from the Baroque to the Modern Era. Dr. Errik Hood currently works on the faculty of NYU Steinhardt as a Music Assistant Professor of Voice Performance. As a teacher, he has been mentored by some of the foremost experts in vocal pedagogy, voice science, and motor learning theory, and has been highly sought after as a crossover voice specialist at universities and professional conferences all over the country. While in high demand in a wide variety of operatic and concert repertoire, Errik has established himself as one of the foremost interpreters of early 20th-century British repertoire. Errik made his international (Great Britain Choral Festival at Ely Cathedral, UK) and Carnegie Hall debuts providing solos for Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Sancta Civitas and Dona Nobis Pacem, repertoire he has frequently repeated with other regional performing ensembles. Having completed his doctoral research on the art songs of Ivor Gurney, Errik has presented lecture recitals on this repertoire at conferences for the National Association of Teachers of Singing, the College Music Society, the North American British Music Studies Association, and at universities all over the country.
