Biography

Ivey Barr

Ivey creates opportunities to perform wherever possible - even if that means building an opera company from scratch to continue singing after undergrad. With Comet Opera, Ivey not only performed a leading role in each semester's show, but translated, music-directed, created a pastiche operetta, coached younger singers, and marketed the company's productions to the local opera community. Ivey's trademark ardor, creativity, and physicality brought additional opportunities, including Prince Orlofsky with Little Opera Company of Charlotte, NC; Perdita in The Winter's Tale with Public Works Dallas at Dallas Theater Center (under the direction of Kent Gash); and numerous award-winning roles with online Shakespeare collective Plague Mask Players. Now based in Atlanta, GA, Ivey debuts with Peach State Opera as Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro in January 2022.
