Hailed as “an astonishing composing talent” (Apple Music), Rodrigo Ruiz regularly receives commissions from musicians and ensembles all over the world. Behold the Stars, his debut, Dante-inspired album for Signum Classics—which features chamber music performed by Kerenza Peacock, Laura van der Heijden, and Huw Watkins—rose to no. 13 on the Billboard Classical charts and to the Top 10 of the Month on Apple Music. The works recorded for this album are published by Universal Music. He holds a Bachelor of Music cum laude from Lawrence University and a Master of Music from the University of Michigan. He was assistant conductor in Milhaud’s L’Orestie d’Eschyle for Naxos Records, nominated for the 2015 Grammy Awards for Best Opera Recording. Thanks to the generous help of the Joseph Campbell Scholarship, he is now pursuing a Ph.D. in Mythological Studies at Pacifica Graduate Institute, and finding novel ways to fuse music and myth. Rodrigo is fluent in Spanish, English, Italian, and French.
