Critics have praised Ms. Jones calling her “astonishing” “thrilling” and “fabulous.” A versatile artist, her repertoire spans from early music to contemporary opera. She dazzled audiences at Santa Fe Opera as Chrisann Brennan in the world premiere of Mason Bates’s The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs and was then invited back to sing the title role in the world premiere of Poul Ruder’s The Thirteenth Child in 2019.

A champion of American opera, she has workshopped, premiered, and sung in many other contemporary works, but she also mesmerizes audiences with her powerful performances of favorite operatic roles. As Gilda in Rigoletto she received this praise, “Jones’ performance epitomized sophistication and control. She possesses a fully integrated voice from top to bottom with equal parts warmth and fortified steel. Florid passages were executed with gusto and apparent ease. Top notes never failed to thrill, but always stayed on the right side of taste.” (Operawire) As Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor, “Jessica Jones trilled and soared her way into a perfect storm of maniacal derangement.”(Houstonia Magazine)

Jessica’s other notable roles include Euridice in Orfeo ed Euridice, Musetta in La bohème, Josephine in H.M.S. Pinafore, Elvira in L'italiana in Algeri, Desdemona in Rossini’s Otello, Adina in L’elisir d’amore, Corinna in Il Viaggio a Riems, Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus, The Governess in The Turn of the Screw, and Beatrice in Daniel Catán’s Il Postino.
