Mikayla Sager

This season, Mikayla Sager will make her highly anticipated role debut as the Countess from Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro with Merola Opera Program, where she is a Young Artist for their 63rd season. Ms. Sager recently won Second Place in the Vienna International Voice Competition, was selected as a finalist for the upcoming National Opera Association competition and is a semi-finalist for the Annapolis Opera Vocal Competition, which will be going forward after being postponed in 2020 due to the pandemic. She qualified in the prestigious Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and will participate in the competition virtually in 2021. She concludes the season with the Merola Grand Finale concert. Due to the global pandemic, the semi-finals of the Joan Sutherland and Richard Bonynge Bel Canto Award Competition have been postponed, in which Sager was scheduled to compete. This past season, Ms. Sager covered the title role of Donizetti’s Anna Bolena with Baltimore Concert Opera, and was a Finalist for the Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Ryan Opera Center, the Opera Index competition, the Dutch National Opera, and won first place in the American Protégé Competition. She has also been a semi-finalist for several renowned houses, including Theatre Basel, Opéra national de Paris, and the Royal Opera House’s Jette Parker Programme. Additionally, she was heard in a masterclass with the Metropolitan Opera Guild as Donna Anna from Mozart’s Don Giovanni. In the winter of 2018, Sager recorded multiple tracks with esteemed producer Simon Kiln, curated by Decca Records (London, UK).
