Rebecca Achtenberg

Rebecca Achtenberg, has distinguished herself as a sensitive and compelling musician and performer. At the end of January, 2021, she will be seen as "Elle" in Bloomington Chamber Opera's streaming production of Poulenc's monodrama, La voix humaine, and in April, she sings Mimì in Indiana University's production of La bohème. During the summer of 2020, she was slated to make her debut as Junon and to cover Clarine in Rameu's Platée, as a member of the inaugural class of Lakes Area Music Festival's Vocal Fellowship program, which was cancelled due to Covid. She was recently named the 2nd prize winner of the 31st Annual Annapolis Opera Vocal Competition and of the Five Towns Music and Arts Foundation Competition. In 2019, she was seen as Older Alyce in Penn Square Music Festival's production of Glory Denied, Lia in Garden State Opera’s production of l’Enfant prodigue, and Rosario in Granados's Goyescas with Hub City Opera. That year she also appeared as Annina in Verdi's La traviata with New Rochelle Opera, and the High Priestess in Verdi’s Aida with Boheme Opera of New Jersey. Other recent appearances include Older Alyce in Glory Denied with Tri-Cities Opera, 1st Lady in Die Zauberflöte and Flora in La traviata with CoOPERAtive Opera, and Papagena in Die Zauberflöte with Opera 691.
