Vivian Hsu is an award-winning freelance harpist based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Born to Taiwanese parents in San Jose, California, Vivian Hsu started playing the harp at age eight. She is a proud alumni of the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra. A four-time 1st prize winner of the Yvonne La Mothe Schwager Regional Competition, Vivian is also a 2nd and 3rd prize winner of the American Harp Society National Competition, 2nd prize winner of the Young Artists' Harp Seminar Competition, and 2nd prize winner of the Aspen Music Festival Harp Concerto Competition. Vivian has performed in renowned halls all over the world, including Carnegie Hall, Davies Symphony Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, and the Berlin Philharmonie.

Vivian has studied at the Aspen Music Festival and Fresno Opera and Orchestra Summer Academy. She was Principal Harpist of the American Wind Symphony Orchestra on their 2017 60th Anniversary Tour in the Great Lakes Region. She is currently the first call auxiliary harpist of The Louisville Orchestra, and has performed with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, Carmel Symphony Orchestra, and Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra.

Vivian holds a B.A. in Psychology and a B.A. in Harp Performance from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a M.M. in Harp Performance from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. She is currently taking a leave of absence from her doctoral studies at the University of Cincinnati - College Conservatory of Music studying with Dr. Gillian Benet Sella and minoring in arts administration.
