Biography

Anne Marie Stanley is a second-year Resident Artist at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In February 2020, she performed the role of Léonor in Donizetti's La Favorite conducted by Richard Raub and directed by Gregory Boyle. She also sang in a German Lieder Rarities recital featuring works by Korngold with Luke Housner and a French recital featuring works by Massenet with Audrey Saint-Gil. Following these performances, Anne Marie was scheduled to sing the role of Die Vertraute in Elektra with The Philadelphia Orchestra conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin. Due to her extensive French repertoire, she also received a grant to attend the Classic Lyric Arts program in Ste. Sabine, France (all cancelled due to COVID-19).

Anne Marie is a Boston District Winner for the 2020-2021 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and received the Cecile K. Dalton 2nd Prize in the 2020 AVA Giulio Giargari Bel Canto Vocal Competition. Anne Marie has received numerous awards including 1st place in the 2018 Cooper-Bing Vocal Competition, 3rd place in the 2017 Palm Springs Opera Guild Vocal Competition, a Finalist in the 2017 HGO Eleanor McCollum Vocal Competition, 1st place in the 2016 Franco-American Grand Concourse Vocal Competition, and 1st place in the 2015 Philadelphia Orchestra Albert M. Green Vocal Competition.

Anne Marie earned her Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey and her Master of Music degree in Voice Performance from The Shepherd School of Music at Rice University in Houston, Texas.
"Because of the thickness of the orchestral texture in this movement, it is often difficult to hear the mezzo-soprano, but Anne Marie Stanley was able to hold her own."
