James Edgar Knight

In 2020/2021, Mr. Knight continues his residency as an Ensemblemitglied at Die Theater Chemnitz where, for the last two seasons, his assignments included: Don José (Carmen), Duca (Rigoletto), Alfred (Die Fledermaus), Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Pedrillo (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Jaquino (Fidelio), Florian Specht (Ein Ehemann vor der Tür), Wagner/Nereo (Mefistofele), and Froh (Das Rheingold). During the four preceding seasons, from 2015/16 to 2018/19, Mr. Knight was an Ensemblemitglied at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe where his assignments included: Mario Cavaradossi (Tosca), Maurizio (Adriana Lecouvreur), Alfredo Germont (La Traviata), Gabriele Adorno (Simon Boccanegra), Macduff (Macbeth), Fenton (Falstaff), Lucio Silla (Lucio Silla), Tybalt (Roméo et Juliette), Jonas (Le Prophète), Froh (Das Rheingold), Junger Diener (Elektra), Erster Gralsritter (Parsifal), and Freddy Eynsford-Hill (My Fair Lady). James Edgar Knight was born in Sydney and was raised across three continents - growing up in Australia, Hong Kong, and California. Trained and educated in New York City, Mr. Knight holds a Bachelors Degree from the Mannes School of Music and a Masters Degree from the prestigious Juilliard School.
