Biography

Andrew Turner

A native of Tacoma, WA, Andrew holds a BM in Vocal performance from Washington State University and an MM from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Andrew is finishing his studies as an Artist Diploma candidate at the Juilliard School. In the 2022-2023 season, he played the role of “Miles Zegner” in Missy Mazzoli's Proving Up and covered the role of “Rinuccio” in Puccini's Gianni Schicchi. Additionally, he workshopped the role of “Eli" in Gregory Spears new opera The Righteous that will be making its premiere in 2024 at The Santa Fe Opera. This season, some engagements include debuting the role of “Tybalt” in Gounod’s Romeo et Juiliette at the Dallas Opera and the Title role in La Clemenza di Tito at the Juilliard School.

Turner was a 2021 -2022 Pittsburgh Opera Resident Artist. His roles included First Priest/ First Armored Man (Magic Flute), The Beloved/Horus (The Rose Elf), Policeman/The Man (In a Grove), Remendado (Carmen) and Policeman/Buddy #1 (Blue). Summer of 2022, Andrew was an apprentice artist at the Santa Fe Opera where he performed the role of Agent 2 in Huang Ruo's M. Butterfly and covered the role of Bardolfo in Verdi's Falstaff. 

Mr. Turner performed two seasons as an apprentice artist at Des Moines Metro Opera performing the role of Tchaplitsky in The Queen of Spades and covering the role of Tobias Raggs in Sweeney Todd (2021) and made his debut as Parpignol in DMMO’s production in La Boheme (2019).
