Biography

Avery Boettcher

Avery Boettcher is currently in her second season with Michigan Opera Theatre's as a member of the Studio Artist Program. Recent operatic engagements include the roles of Woglinde in Michigan Opera Theatre’s reduced adaption of Wagner’s TWILIGHT GODS (Götterdammerung), Pamina in THE MAGIC FLUTE with Opera North, Lauretta in GIANNI SCHICCHI and Zerlina in DON GIOVANNI with Michigan Opera Theatre, and Countess Almaviva in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO with the Aspen Opera Center as part of the Aspen Music Festival. Ms. Boettcher received her Bachelor’s Degree at Viterbo University and attended the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University for her Master’s Degree, studying with world-renowned soprano Carol Vaness. In her time at IU, she debuted the roles of Donna Elvira in DON GIOVANNI and Adina in L'ELISIR d'AMORE. Upcoming performances include her role debut as Mimì in Puccini’s LA BOHEME with Opera Theatre of St. Louis in a filmed production scheduled to be publicly streamed in early 2021. In the spring of 2021, Ms. Boettcher will join Opera Theatre of St. Louis’ summer festival as a Gerdine Young Artist where she will cover Patricia Racette in Ms. Racette’s self-directed performance of Poulenc's one-woman opera LA VOIX HUMAINE. Awards Ms. Boettcher has recently received include 1st Place Grand Prize in MIOpera's 2020 Vocal Competition, District Winner in the Wisconsin District of the 2020 Metropolitan National Council Auditions, Semifinalist in the upcoming Music International Grand Prix Competition, and 1st Place in the National Society of Arts & Letters Competition.
